Hello 2020

Hello 2020 ... how did you get here so quickly?

A new year, a new decade, a brand new start.  A lot of people use the new year to reevaluate their life and make changes or set goals of things they want to accomplish.  Of course, I want to focus on pushing my mind, body, and soul to be better but I also decided that this year instead of worrying about focusing too much on resolutions I'm just going to give God the reigns and allow Him to take me wherever He wants me to go.

A few years ago I started to pray deeply asking God to change my heart.  I had dealt with depression, anger and sensitivity for a long time and I also viewed people very harshly.  Even though I consider myself to have had a pretty decent life, and always had everything I needed, I still had an emotional war going on inside me.  It didn't take very long for me to feel at peace with myself and saw the world much more differently.  Even though I felt differently inside I had trouble showing it on the outside and people still see me as the angry, sensitive girl I once was.  If only we could use the new year not only as a clean slate for ourselves but also in how we look at others.  As the days and years go by we learn more and we change.  I'll never judge a person for what they did 10 years ago, or even yesterday.  Forgiveness is also something I've also been working on, and although it's not easy, it is possible.  Forgiveness, grace, mercy, love, kindness are just a few adjectives that should be on our resolution list, if nothing else.

I'm ready to start this new year with a clean slate, a pure heart and a mind filled with compassion towards others.  I'm also ready to allow God to fully lead me towards His will.

2020 let's make this a great year!

"Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.  Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?  I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." -- Isaiah 43:18-19

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." --2 Corinthians 5:17
