Reflections of Memorial Day

I wouldn't say Memorial Day is a happy celebration but it's a day set aside that reminds me of what I'm most grateful for.  There was a huge price to pay for America being what it is today and I am thankful for those who sacrificed everything for that.

My grandfather was a WW2 veteran but luckily he made it home.  Of course, or I wouldn't be here.  However, sadly, so many didn't make it home.  I can't imagine the pain the families faced knowing they would never see their loved ones again but with that sadness came pride because they died a hero.

Today we will gather to barbecue and hopefully share laughter and fun, but my mind will stay focused on the true meaning for this holiday.

"All gave some, some gave all."

Weekend Fun and a Birthday

Good morning and happy Monday!  With two weeks left of the school year we are counting the days.  I know my daughter will be excited to finally take off the mask she has to wear every day for school and dance.  It's been so frustrating for her.  These last few weeks are busy with preparation for her upcoming dance recital and my son is finishing the baseball season but then will start in the tournament games.  I'm so proud of these kids and all they do but it is a lot and we all can't wait to have a relaxing summer break.

This weekend was quite fun!  Friday was a virtual day and my husband took the day off.  We decided to spend some time in the morning at the gun range.  Then the kids cooled off at home on their slip and slide.

On Saturday Bri had dance pictures and with being in 6 different dances for the show that meant 6 different costume changes.

Sunday was hubby's birthday so we decorated the house, I made homemade blueberry muffins and Bri made the birthday cake.  She did it all with my assistance.  It actually turned out great.  We started the day with breakfast, presents, church, and his mother came over to celebrate the rest of the day with us.

42 years old!  It was also the 21st anniversary of when we made our relationship official so that was worth celebrating too.

Now we're starting a new week on a rainy day.  Baseball games, dance classes, guitar lessons ... summer vacation can't come fast enough!!!

Have a great week y'all!  Time to get ready for work!!!!!!

Ramblings

I don't have much of a green thumb so it's exciting when I see some of my plants actually doing well.  I really can't wait to get my hands in the dirt and plant more in the flower beds but there just doesn't seem to be enough time.  Between work, baseball games, trips back and forth to dance, etc., our days are so busy.  Last weekend was super busy.

I like being busy but I do need to find more down time and I look forward to having plenty of that during summer vacation.   Only a  few weeks to go.

Right now I'm icing my back because in the midst of living such a hectic life I started experiencing lower back pain.  Getting older can be so frustrating.

Tomorrow my husband and I celebrate 19 years of marriage!   I feel like yesterday we were just newlyweds in a tiny apartment trying to figure it all out.  We're still trying to figure it all out but with kids, some gray hairs and body aches.

I'm going to finish icing my back, make an early dinner, take the girl to dance and then watch the boy play ball.  Whew!   Thankful.

Mother's Day 2021

Mother's Day was amazing.   All I wanted was to spend the entire day at home relaxing with my family and we did just that.  We streamed the church service online, my son made a delicious lunch and my daughter made amazing chocolate and peanut butter cupcakes.  My son helped with dinner and I was spoiled.  I was told not to go into the kitchen and when my daughter caught me folding laundry she told me to stop.

Can Mother's Day be every Sunday?

Seriously, I love being a mother.  I often feel like I'm failing at times and I know I can do so much better but when I look at my kids and think about who they are and what they are becoming I couldn't be more proud.  They are amazing kids.  I am thankful.

A day late but HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all you beautiful, hard working women.

A Rising Star

This Saturday my girl had her first in person dance competition in Hershey.  Her trio "Carried Me With You" got a platinum award and 2nd place award.  Her group "How Far I'll Go" got a platinum award, a Rising Star award and third place.  She loved being part of this and can't wait to do it next year (hopefully without a mask).

And since we were already in Hershey it was only right to stop in Chocolate World, a place we've been to many times but it never gets old.
