Easter 2022

I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Easter.

My Easter was very special.  The kids woke up to find their baskets filled with goodies.  We made it out to church and it was a wonderful message, as always.   Then we went home to start prepping for the dinner with my family.   My sister Deb and her family of four, my brother and one of his daughter's and boyfriend came from New York.  My parents joined as well.  It's always a fun time with my family.   They are laid back people who always find humor in everything.   Living far away I don't see them often but when I do it's always a great time.

Today is our last day of spring break and we are currently at a local trampoline park where we are members.  Apparently all other spring breakers have the same idea because this place is packed.   I'm enjoying a moment of relaxing reading a book while the kids jump.

This book is called Life Is Messy by Matthew Kelly and came unexpectedly in the mail.  I always appreciate a good book and this one showed up at the right time.

Even though Easter has ended I will continue to hold onto the remembrance of what the day truly means, the Resurrection.  I am forever thankful for the sacrifice so that I can one day live in an eternal paradise.

20 Miles

Yesterday was quite an adventure as I joined the Boy Scouts on a 20 mile hike.  It was an interesting experience and one I don't regret but I'm really feeling the soreness today.  The fiery feeling at the bottom of my feet has subsided but my legs and lower back are still feeling the agony and it's difficult to walk.

The first 10 miles seemed like a breeze, then we stopped for lunch and the venture back was the most challenging.  Every mile from there seemed longer and longer.  At the end we were met by my husband and daughter.  We all finished with some pizza.

I'm proud of myself for doing this but I can say it's probably not something I'll do again.  And it's worth mentioning I was the only scout mom who ventured this hike.

This has my boy one step closer to his hiking merit badge.  To say I'm proud of him is an understatement, and the poor kid is feeling the pain too, today.

Aunt Susie

Today we laid to rest a beautiful person with fire in her soul; living her life serving God and helping others.  I didn't see her often but when we did get together those moments with her were invaluable.  Some of the sweetest things she said to me will stay in my heart forever.  The last thing she told me was to keep standing up for what I believe in.

During the car ride to and from the funeral Rob shared many stories from his childhood with her.  Those memories and love live on forever.

Please keep my husband's family in prayer as they continue their lives without her.  We will all be with  her again one sweet day experiencing her excitement and passion for the Lord.

Rest in peace, Aunt Susie!
