I was born on Long Island, New York to a (now retired) Long Island police officer father and stay-at-home mom. As the youngest of 4 I've been teased for being the spoiled one but in my life I've faced both blessings and hard times. At almost 14 years old my parents decided to move to Lancaster,
Pennsylvania where I spent my teenage years fighting through depression while trying to find what purpose I had in this life. In college, I met a group of Christians who taught me the importance of following Jesus. In 2002 I married a man who had been my best friend and we moved to a different part of PA; together bringing two amazing and active kids into the world - currently 17 and 14 years old. I was fully a stay-at-home mother until getting a part-time job in their elementary school cafeteria and then five years later moved to a part-time job as a school van driver. I love that I can still be home with my kids during their vacations and time off.
As a kid, I started by filling notebooks with pictures that told a story. Then the more I learned how to spell words the more I was able to add writings to those notebooks. First it was a few words, then a complete sentence, then a paragraph, and finally the notebooks filled with all words and no pictures (which is good because I am not an artist). Imagine my excitement when my father surprised me with my very own typewriter (that was what life was like in the 1980s). My favorite part of school was getting the chance to write short stories in English class and the teachers always loved them. My dream has always been to have books published and once I reached the age of 40 I realize it's time. Now if only I can find the time to sit and get my book idea complete.
I began blogging shortly after getting married when I discovered a site called Xanga. Xanga was a lot of fun and had a strong community of other bloggers. It was fun to meet many other like-minded people from all over the country and I enjoyed sharing my journey as a new wife, then a homeowner, and then a mother. Sadly, Xanga shut down but I found my way on Blogger. Online journaling gives me a space to express myself and it's also fun to get to know other bloggers, too.
I consider myself to be a homebody and enjoy time spent in quiet, solitude but having children means I'm usually running from one event to another - and that brings me absolute joy, too.
